2020 "YES for Liberty" Scholarships awarded - March 8, 2020March 9, 2020News in Brief: 2020 Annual "YES for Liberty" Constitution Bee Scholarships were awarded on Sunday, March 8, 2020. 18 of the 20 students confirmed to participate from across Kansas competed for the top award of $3500.00, ultimately won by Carson Cargill of Isabel, KS, Medicine Lodge High School, Medicine Lodge, KS. Second Place award of $1500.00 went to Bernadette Rutledge, St. Mary's Academy, St. Marys, KS Third Place, $750.00 award, was presented to Loretta Lopez of Belvue, St. Mary's Academy St. Marys, KS. Mark McAllister, keynote speaker, 2019 "YES for Liberty" 1st Place Award Winner and 2019 American Legion Constitutional Oratorical Contest State Champion gave a powerful and motivating speech. A speech he ended by issuing a challenge both encouraging and defining the obligation civic duty. Congratulations to the award winners and to all who stepped forward to test their knowledge of the Constitution of the United States which secures our "unalienable" rights as stated in the Declaration of Independence.
